Mobility Scooter Batteries are quite simply "the power behind the machine" and come in many guises.
Scooter batteries can broadly be divided into two distinct types: SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) and Li (Lithium-ion) SLA'a are the most common batteries found on today's scooters, with Li being a fairly new innovation. Both types of scooter batteries are airline friendly (depending upon the policy of the carrier concerned) allowing portable boot and folding style scooters to be taken on vacation.
Both types of scooter batteries are available with differing outputs, known as AH (Amp Hours) basically the higher the AH the further the scooter will travel on a single charge. The compromise here, particularly with portable scooters, is the weight. Typically the higher the AH the heavier the battery will be. Li scooter batteries weigh significantly less than SLA's but are much more expensive to buy, at least until the technology really takes off. (we are seeing early signs of this now)
